About the Author

Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Daniel L. Pinion is a 28-year U.S. Army veteran who led troops from the front lines through the highest levels of command. A combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom (Bronze Star with Valor, Purple Heart), he rose through every noncommissioned officer rank in infantry, armor, and cavalry units, culminating as the G-3 Sergeant Major for U.S. Army Europe, advising on operations, training, and leader development across 51 countries and a $150M+ exercise budget.
Daniel's leadership was forged in the crucible of war—facing fear, courage, loss, and the unbreakable bonds of brotherhood. He unflinchingly shares the raw realities of service: the triumphs, the heartbreaks, the moments of doubt, and the hard-won lessons that shaped him into an authentic, caring, and genuine leader of character. Committed to people, mission, and country, he has carried these values forward into civilian life as a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, senior OCM leader, and award-winning author.
